Focus – Team unity – attitude
The Bible shows us two ways to respond to those around us.
The first in James 4:1 -3 is a self serving motive and desires.
4 What is causing the quarrels and fights among
you? Don’t they come from the evil desires at war within you? 2 You
want what you don’t have, so you scheme and kill to get it. You are jealous of
what others have, but you can’t get it, so you fight and wage war to take it
away from them. Yet you don’t have what you want because you don’t ask God for
it. 3 And even when you ask, you don’t get it
because your motives are all wrong—you want only what will give you pleasure.
1 Corinthians 13:2 – 4 shows motives and desires that are for others.
2 if I understood all of God’s
secret plans and possessed all knowledge, and if I had such faith that I could
move mountains, but didn’t love others, I would be nothing. 3 If
I gave everything I have to the poor and even sacrificed my body, I could boast
about it;[a] but if I didn’t love others, I would
have gained nothing.
4 Love is patient and kind. Love is
not jealous or boastful or proud.
Love is I love what I can do for YOU, not I love what you do
for ME! For there to be no I or me in TEAM we must love w/Christ motives, A You
before me attitude, both on and off the court. With our team members and away
from them! (Hand Kayla a cup) to
demonstrate 1 Corinthians 13 love You before me is like I hand this cup to
Kayla and release and James passage is struggle for us both to control it. This
is the Love Christ gave us on the cross. He laid His life down so we may know
Love. True Love.
A humble attitude plus grace = gratitude. This is not a
rebuke, this is encouragement to keep going. Paul encourages us to excel still more. I have seen humble attitudes and grace in this team and for that we are
grateful!
Keep gaining toward
the goal of loving well, loving with humility, not seeking your own desires.
Treat each other as better than yourself. Speak with grace. This attitude is
not only great gain in the Kingdom, it is also an example to those around you.
We play for an audience of one! He is the King.
Hands on way to love others well – Listening to others,
respectful in attitude and tone towards each other, keep pepping each other up, notice when a team member is getting
discouraged. Call the ball! Ask for help when you need it. And most importantly
– Do your best every time! Giving 100%!
Lets pray!
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank you for loving us even in our ugly times! May we love
each other so well that it is evidenced by all! May we not look to put our
selves first but others . May you grant us protection from injury and
protection from the flesh that wants our self to be first! May we continue to
love and encourage each other well.
In Your holy name!
